This past week, February 16-20th, we were very busy in the music room. Here are some highlights for each grade!
Kindergarten: We spent time talking about how our voices can move like roller coasters and looked at pictures of different instruments.
1st Grade: We learned about different percussion families (woods, metals, shakers/scrapers, and drums) and also got to listen to “And God Created Whales.”
2nd Grade: We played a fun game of “Button You Must Wander” to help understand the concept of our new note “Re.” We also learned more about dotted half notes.
3rd Grade: We added some more notes to our ‘staircase’ high Do and high Re. We also learned about a pentatonic scale
4th Grade: We just finished up our orchestra unit and ended by reading “The Composer Is Dead” by Lemony Snicket.
5th Grade: We reviewed instrument families and also read “The Composer is Dead.”
6th Grade: We had the week off since the one time they would have had music was during the Faculty/7th and 8th grade basketball game.
7th and 8th Grade: We completed a composer worksheet on Beethoven.
All choirs were busy putting the final touches on the pieces we will perform next week, March 1st, at Timothy Lutheran at the 10:45am service. 4th and 5th grade is really starting to work on harmony to help us prepare for next year!
Reminder that 4th grade will be returning to recorders this week!
